Dupuy Takes Outlaw Fireworks ASCS Win at HRP
BAYTOWN, Texas (June 21, 2008) – Over 6,000 cheering fans filed into Houston Raceway Saturday night in what was an eventful evening of rain, racing, and facility electrical problems. A heavy thunderstorm delayed racing action for over two hours and knocked out one of the facility's two electrical transformers. When the lights finally came on it was Louisiana's Michael Dupuy who picked up his first feature win of the year by topping the night's 25-lap Texas Outlaw Fireworks American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region feature.
"We want to thank all the fans who hung in there with us tonight," said Larry Rollo of Houston Raceway Park. When a transformer that supplies power to the facility was struck by lighting, track managment was unsure if they would be able to continue, but with the help of Centerpoint Energy and track staff, powered was restored and the racing began.
